It wasn’t until I turned 40 that I realized how much of myself I had set aside for motherhood. Only recently, while reflecting on the archetypes of Virgin, Mother, and Crone, did it occur to me that we embody all of these simultaneously throughout our lives—moving in and out of each as needed, never truly leaving either behind. I am still that virginal girl before motherhood seeking truth and answers to the mysteries of life.
